Hike Moab field trip

We're still feeling the last days of winter here in Moab. The snow is melting slowly turning to mud, but it will be drying out soon enough. This week we have a two part video series from the warm fall days of 2019 in Westcliffe, CO. I spent a week there with a friend I've known since I was about four years old, on his ranch.

It's a fascinating area that was once the third most populated area of Colorado in the 1880s. It sits in a valley between the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains. There was an incredibly successful silver mine there in the 1880s and we do some hiking around the old mines on a trail that was built by the railroad company that would impress any modern trail builder.

We also hiked up Music Pass in the Sangre de Cristo mountains and got to feel the effects of 11k+ elevation. Excess gas!

I hope you enjoy the videos as we reminisce about that warm weather hiking.
